Buying Guides
Find your interested lots
There are several ways to find the property that most interests you:
Browse upcoming sales
Search for a specific item
Attend a free pre-auction viewing
Before you decide what you want to bid on, read the lot descriptions carefully, pay attention to the basic information such as medium, dating, size, attribution, quantity and so on. Condition reports are available on request. We strongly recommend coming to the pre-auction viewings and looking at your interested lots for yourself.
Bid with Marchance
Before you can bid on an item, you must register for the sale. First-time bidders must also provide credit information (including credit card details). You many choose a bidding method below:

Bid In Person
The most exciting way to bid at auction is the traditional live method on the sales floor with an auction paddle. Clients intending to bid in person must register on or before the day of the auction with a photo ID and a numbered paddle will be assigned at that time. In the saleroom, the auctioneer will announce bids. If the item and price is right, raise your paddle. Continue until you're the only bidder remaining. The auctioneer will state that the item is sold, and then announce the hammer price and your paddle number.
Telephone Bidding
You may participate live in the sales by bidding via telephone with one of our trained staff member, who will relay progress back to you and, on your instruction, bid on your behalf.
The completed and signed telephone bid forms must be received at least 24 hours prior to the auction. The Telephone Bid Form is available on our website. You may fill out the form and send it to us by fax (+852 3020 9433) or Email (enquiry@marchance-auctioneers.com)

Online Bidding
Marchance offers online bidding service via invaluable.com for bidders who cannot attend the sale. Wherever you are, online bidding allows you to bid on your computer as well as iPhone and Android apps. All bids are received in real time. To register for internet bidding you must login.

Absentee Bidding
For buyers unable to participate live in person, on the telephone or online, we offer the option of leaving absentee bids. An absentee bid is simply your maximum bid. One of our trained staff members will bid on your behalf up to your own predetermined price limit. In the event that the other bidders drop out before reaching the full amount of your absentee bid, you will purchase the lot at the next increment. The Absentee Bid Form is available on our website. You may fill out the form and send it to us by fax (+852 3020 9433) or Email (enquiry@marchance-auctioneers.com)
